In 2018, Alicante-Elche Airport registered a little over 95,000 flights and just under 14 million passengers. The fully renovated airport got a brand new terminal in 2011. Alicante Airport can handle up to 20 million passengers every year and has no problem whatsoever with the current volume. The airport has been operating since 1967 and is located at 9 km of the capital with the same name. It is the fifth largest Spanish airport. About 90% of the flights in Alicante are international flights.

The distance between Alicante Airport and Altea is 70 km, so you in under an hour, you are 'home' in Spain.

FROM AND TO ALICANTE AIRPORT

·       Many Stadman International customers have meanwhile bought their own car with Spanish license plate and park it at one of the many specialized long-term parking areas in the airport area. A shuttle bus takes you to the airport, while your car, is safely left behind in guarded parking until you return to Spain.

·       You can easily rent a car from the airport and return it upon departure. Well-known rental companies are Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, and Avis but  Goldcar and Centauro are reliable possibilities as well. The offices are located in the arrivals hall and are usually open from around 7 a.m. to midnight. Online booking and checking of opening hours are recommended.

·       There’s also the option of taking a taxi to get to Altea. The signs in the airport arrivals hall swiftly guide you to the taxi rank. The official taxis of Radio Taxi Elche are recognizable by their green line over the length of the taxi and the city arm of Elche on the door. More info about fares can be found through https://www.aena.es/en/alicante-airport/taxi.html

·       You can also organize transport through one of the many private shuttle companies that provide shared or private airport transport. Every company has different conditions and rates, but it is often significantly cheaper than taking a taxi. Online booking is necessary.
